Still this is an untested potion please google neem oil and tea tree oil do not drink this I smashed my little toe a while ago and this should cure the nail toe nail fungus I got after that. This potion should cure skin conditions and hopefully GOP Zombie ism.
Do not put on open cuts without googling first.
George is happy now. As the MSM finally tells us….
George Bush has destroyed America.
When he visits with Poppy and Bar there is no longer any doubt, none whatsoever, who the Biggest Swingin’ Dick in the Fambly is.
It’s George. He’s destroyed the nation his dad fought for in WWII and his mom struggled to bring all those kids into so they’d have enough capos to run the Fambly. All for naught.
The nation is a smoking ruin and the Dems are plannin’ a big party to celebrate GeeW’s departure to Paraguay.
I doan see me no upstairs….
Oh noooooooooooooooooes!
I’m lost!
Help!
Help!

well I just hate it when someone enters the room and starts correcting people. Jeez.
since i only write about one diary a year, i hope you-all won’t mind a link: Looking back at FISA’s year in the House
I can’t thank you enough for that diary, selise.
dayam, selise that needs recommends
orange pups – go recommend that diary for selise
Christ, selise – that’s a holy eruption over there. I can’t wait for the rest!
BRAVA
Hey did anyone cover this yet. Sorry to be a pooper, but I wish the aussies had been at G8 to give Bush the bum salute again.
link
Oh hey, I gotta check out Selise’s FISA diary. I was busy emoting over the world’s biggest toddler.
Selise,
Ive recommended your diary to everyone I know as “the must-read of all must-reads.” Damn, that is some fine work!!!
Regards,
Wigwam
Yes the thought that someone might drink it scared me too untested potions like is the reason why we need a functioning FDA.
i didn’t even know there was a length limit to daily kos diaries. that is until i tried to put the whole thing in one! i have to wait 24 hours before posting another diary – but then i’ll post the rest (i think i can make it fit *g*)
OMG, EW. That was so powerful…I’m so freaking happy to see it and that the German people are seeing it.
Wow.
Fellow FDLers, please recommend Selise’s diary. People need to read it!!! That’s some damn good stuff.
Woops, ES.
Done…
thank you! – it’s really just the best summation i could make (with lots of help from my friends here) of everything we’ve watched and discussed as it was happening.
i hope someone will do the same for the senate.
Selise, great work! Going to give it a very serious read in the am.
I loved it.. and the German was such an excellent touch. Glad you liked it too. She’ so powerful.. just hearing her and those words gave me goose pimples.
That’s is some awesome work! I really like the snapshot where you say which bills passed and break down the dem/rep blocking/passing part. You ought to send it to Harry and Nancy and insist on enough time to read the damn bills. Good grief.
well done!
I recommended it. ;)
amazing, inspirational video, ES. thank you!
selise that took some work!! Great job!
Because the Night Belongs to Lovers is still one of my fave songs to belt out in the car when it plays on the radio…the Patti Smith version of course. I like Natalie Merchant but her version just doesn’t hold a candle to Patti’s.

I’m out too. see ya pups.
Recomended!
Whoo hoo Suz you have earned it in spades!!
OK, this is what I like to do: listen to this song and imagine I am the bass line.
But it may be too late at night for that. You’ll feel all roller-skatey.

Poor, mega-corporation. Let’s all shed some crocodile tears for’em.
Eureka, that’s a real gem up top.
“Eureka Springs – not eclectic enough.” :-)
Are you kidding The Stones are one of my all time favorites…and this one has a great Bass line… makes me want to start plucking on my Kramer Bass…
Here is another Time waits for no one
Hi Selise. That tells people how it needs to be done in detail by our side. As you might know, I posted a timeline a few days ago, but it was mostly dedicated to Obama’s statements: http://www.dailykos.com/storyo…..466/547691
The place where we intersect, and I might have some details useful to your point about the rush-job on H.R. 6304 in the house is the stuff I got from here, which I found very interesting: http://irregulartimes.com/inde…..this-bill/
So it has a link to the first printing of H.R. 6304 at 5:12 PM on June 19. And then it has a link to Thomas, the House calendar, which shows that H.R. 6304 was submitted to the House 24 hours later, at 535 on June 19, and that the House passed it at 12:48 the next afternoon, i.e., less than 24 hours later. This was the Democratic Party, under the new leadership of Barak Obama, in action: open and transparent government.
In any case the above has the appropriate links.
Again, superb work, and many thanks.
Regards,
Wigwam
Is that a challenge? hehe
The funny and sad thing is, I don’t remember hearing this song until last year, on YouTubes.
Don’t ask me what I was listeing to, I have no idea.
My friends, stop whining.

Patty Smith…wow written in german no less…on to the Hague. I want the name of every person who died as a result of the war, the lies, the torture, the black sights, the renditions on a hude list…every nationality. Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld, Addington, Fieth and the rest of the (alleged) murders given equal justice under the law as they have prosecuted others. Since their policy is an eye for an eye (AIPAC)frog walking down the aisle seems appropriate.
I want the cost of the damage to infrastructure, the national treasury and our armed forces.
The costs in lives, money and political ca[ital in the world.
King George and Nottingham Sheriff Mukasey and Gonzales brought to the bar of justice.
Three cheers for Patty Smith and three cheers for ES and a well deserved thank you. Where did you find this?

Greg – if you saw this from last night on Countdown, you probably realize that he’s got to stop calling people that, and soon. There are, in fact, very few “friends” of John McCain.
McCain gets absolutely smoked.
I just happened across it this afternoon.. Doesn’t appear to have been on youtube very long nor have many folks seen it, yet.
It’s going to be something I listen to for a patriotic energy boost for a very long time.
Rachel came into her own on Countdown tonight (Friday). Most of the week, she had been a bit hesitant about snapping it down. Tonight, she took no prisoners, and I loved it. Richard Wolfe was almost cringing: “What dare I say?”
These media folks don’t want to offend any of their sources, but they don’t want to look like fools. To most questions they answer; “A little bit of this; a little bit of that.” Tonight they percieved that Rachel was out for blood, and they took their queue. it was beautiful. I want to seem more of that. With a whip!
That’s hilarious. Or would be if he were not running for president…
As they say in sports, this election is Obama’s to lose. (But don’t underestimate him.)
They have seemed a bit “off the leash” since she started her fill-in stint.
If ever MSNBC needed an excuse to replace almost anybody there…

thanks wigwam! i updated my diary with a link to yours. much appreciated.
unfortunately, you haven’t be able to see the detailed timeline that goes with my diary. it was too long to include – so i will have to make it a separate diary tomorrow and provide a link to it in today’s diary (where the appendix is supposed to be).
here are some of the relevate bits regarding the issue of how long do the reps have to read (haha) the bills:
- snip –
- snip –
anyway, you can read the rest tomorrow and comment/correct it then… (if you are willing).
i was watching for this, because something similar happened last august when the house leadership gamed the procedures to make sure the PAA passed (but not the Democratic bill!).
I’d be storming the capitol steps with Patti Smith blaring on a portable CD player.
Your comment is visible, selise.
Hard-refresh now Pups.
. Miraculously, it appears she is able to do this before the House Rules Committee has actually reported out the Rule.
SO kind of you to use the word miraculous.
YGM, I hope.
thank you! i forgot about the link limit – boy, i must be tired.
many thanks for releasing it from moderation purgatory.
LOL – i was wondering if anyone would catch that. maybe not if it was buried in pages and pages of timeline.
selise!!! I am so proud of you. What great work you’ve been doing. Highly recommended!
yep – got it!
Does KOS let you do that?? Huh huh ??
hey, i don’t know if this has been covered, but melanie mattson, who wrote just a bump in the beltway, has passed away.
I copied the analysis and comments to MS Word am am sending it to every congress critter and the local dems. It is a Disederata of Shame. it came wrapped in a flag of liberty. I still want to see a list of ALL the war dead so it can be send out as well.
Wow.
Rest in peace, Melanie
Thanks Skippy
skippy – so sad to hear of melanie’s passing. but thank you for bringing us news.
I don’t recall her. Bless her heart. R.I.P.

Well here is at least the Senators who were bought by the TELCOS:
4th Amendment Hit Squad from http://www.bluetidalwave.com/2…..-list.html
On Wednesday July 9, 2008 our U.S. Constitution, specifically the 4th amendment was officially torched by the U.S. government. The Democratic leadership in control of the 110th Congress lighted the definitive match to burn up every citizen’s civil liberties while a giddy unpopular President George Bush and his highly voter despised rubber stamp Republican caucus held the gas can in bravado glee.
The world would be a better place if Bush was as an effective leader of the globe as he is at whipping the Congressional Democrats in legislative battles.
Twenty One Senate Democrats voted to give final approval today to broadening the government’s spy powers and providing legal immunity for the phone companies that took part in the illegal Bush wiretapping program.
You are Too Much!
Has katymine cut off our food porn?
Yes. Our water ops committee was given a description of three RFP reponses for our water rate study (for increases). We got it the day before. Our chair supported a special meeting to give us more time. That is what Pelosi, Hoyer and Reid should have done. It was done behind the scenes during the Independence Day celebration how ironic.
Why would a Dem use Repuke legislation. They have their own leg staffs to write appropriate laws. And Bonds bill came out of the White House! Treason against the people and their constitution?
7 more days relaxing on Crete…
I wouldn’t check in either.
That was excellent. What a freaking dolt McCane is.
Me neither. But we can whine…
Yup. And she was clearly pissed off at the Obama campaign for not jumping all over Gramm’s stupidity.
Lieberman’s Wonderdouche. I have dibs on drawing the logo.
Perhaps she’s in Greece, Feta up to here, with us. /s
I couldn’t decide if he was scared of the issue or flummoxed by the question and having not the faintest clue as to what position he may have taken in the past.
Rest assured, he will attempt to take both sides now, and find a way to blame the fracas on “the wimmin” in the press.
For someone with an NARAL rating of ZERO.. He’s just praying he never gets asked that question again.
No, just recommend. Which I did!
bigbrother – if you wait until tomorrow you can get the appendix too (it is the detailed timeline).
nahant – thanks! i added the link to the updates.
my fellow pups – good night, i’ve hit the wall. thanks (especially to ES) for letting me discuss the diary. it will probably be year before i write another.
That endorsement used to mean something, too.
NARAL Endorses Al Wynn Over Donna Edwards
Not anymore.
Well I’m looking forward to part two myself..
G’nite, selise.. rest well.
Yeah.. I don’t normally give much credit to NARAL.. But a ZERO is pretty telling.
Agreed. I’m sure RGJoe gets at least a one.
Good sleep, selise.
Glad you are helping to spread the word about these whores who are bought an paid for by the Telcos…
Watching Donna sit in the big chair while Kuchinich read new articles of impeachment in the House this week.. Sure felt warm and fuzzy.. like an actual accomplishment of some kind.
Ops good night selise. Sleep well.. you worked very hard on that Diary
nite selise
a well-deserved snooze
Wow, Selise, that’s quite an article. I’m going to leave it up and read it through tomorrow. I’m just too tired right now.
Won’t stop me from plugging my own article, though. We had the argument about what party Jack Bauer belonged to, now it’s time for a new kind of TV metaphor. You might be surprised to learn I’m straddling the fence on this one.
Hi Selise,
Thanks for the link.
Someone has to emphasize the importance of “collegiality” to the functioning of any deliberative body. In an organization that functions on a collegial basis, it is important that offenders be punished for that body to continue to function. Pelosi, Hoyer, Reyes, and Obama have committed an inexcusable breach by ramming a bill through for the other side with less than 24 hours to read 114 pages of deliberately obscure legalese. That is unpardonable! People who do such things must be removed from leadership! Democracy cannot function in such an environment.
I’ll be watching you” The Selice Police! Oh yeah. Does anyonw have an easy link to the congress e-mail list?
Nite sleep well Selise.
long as she doesn’t get Demesticated and forget to come home.
If you have gmail and know how to enter this into your address list (groups).
Selise put together a House list of e-addys here.

Well folks I am about to hit the warm summer humid night wall myself… and just remembered clean sheets are in the dryer..
G’nite fabulous firedogs
Share the link to Patti Smith with your friends.. you know they will thank you for it!
Hi Eureka. Thanks. No, I don’t have gmail, but this may be the thing that makes me get it.

There is a Senate list too.. Maybe newtonusr or tw3k has that link. gmail is really pretty good.
Goodnight, ES and Nahant.
Today I just shed ATT phone and internet service. Fuck the pigs..I will try George Allen’s Charter. They get no more money from me. And that should be for us all. For $54.99 I got unlimited long distance and 10 MPS DSL download. 1 MPS up. Dump the telcos!!!
Thanks. I’ve been told that. And one of my friends set me up with an account years ago. But I never followed up. Now people are telling me how good it is. Guess I better do something.
Wigwam where is your list for emailing the Hill members and ALL the committees including ruled, Intel and Judiciary. Also public document request on all emails from and to each party is very revealing. Open government has to be pried open by these obfuscators.

Selise is a wonder woman!
I do get a kick out of Gail Collins.
Citizen selise rocks the world!! They don’t make ‘em like ‘er anymore!!
but they should
A week ago, I was totally obsessive about this FISA stuff and put together a timeline. It was miniscule compared to what Selise has put together, and still a hell of a lot of work. Selise’s diary is definitely a serious contribution.
Among other things, I dug for what happened when Pelosi, Hoyer, and Obama rammed this FISA bill, H.R. 6304, through the House in less than 24 hours. I pointed out that it was printed at roughly 5:00 PM on the 18th, submitted to the House 24hrs later, and passed 20 hrs after that. Tomorrow, Selise will follow up with a detailed diary that goes way, way beyond what I did. Watch for it.
Speaking of Wonders…

Curious why you say Obama “rammed” this through. Seems to me he was put between Iraq and a Hardin place through no fault of his own.

Obama was, at that point, the head of the Democratic party. His operatives had taken over the DNC, leaving Howard Dean in place as the titular head. But he was the presumptive nominee, and I agree with Digby that, if he had not wanted this to happen, it not have:

Correcty. And now that he’s all in with that strategy, what are the chances that he countermands it, if elected? He won’t want to be on the wrong side of this if the Supremes are going to strike it down.

I was in Portland Or in 1970 where there was a parade agaist the Oligarchy…I had no idea until I read Schock Doctrine, Molly Ivins Bushwacked and others what was going on seriptiously. I think JRR Tolkien said it in the hobbit and the Trilogy which I read in 1969 almost 40 years ago…no www then.
The French dropped the hammer on Iran today. Stop the madness. Stop the killing. Stop the war. If Obama waffles on that too we have lost the opportunity to return to sanity. If he brings home the troops OK.

maybe around the same time myself. I was afraid to comment. I loved the wit, snark and swearing….
God, I’d love to think so, but so far, I don’t. That man has some fences to mend.
Oh yes…I remember that post from Digby, and it was a rare occasion where I totally disagreed.
Obama is not in control of the DemocratIC Party at all. In fact, the infiltrators better know as the DLC still maintain a tight grip over much of the “leadership” in both the House and Senate. Their hand-picked successor was defeated by we the people. Obama is navigating extremely choppy waters as we try to reclaim the Party for the traditional DemocratIC ideals.
Had Obama come out swinging about the the FISA fiasco, it still would’ve passed. Perhaps Obama could hace persuaded some Dems, ubr the vote was overwhelming. The DNC and Dean have little control over Congressional Dems, many of whom don’t want Dean as DNC Chair.
The fact that Obama was put in this difficult situation was not his fault. It was Reid and Pelosi, you know the ones who could’ve stop the FISA vote from happening.

Subject: A response to your message to Obama for America
Dear Friend,
Thank you for contacting us and sharing your strong feelings about this important issue. Please find a statement from Senator Obama below.
We appreciate hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Obama for America,
—
Given the grave threats that we face, our national security agencies must have the capability to gather intelligence and track down terrorists before they strike, while respecting the rule of law and the privacy and civil liberties of the American people. There is also little doubt that the Bush Administration, with the cooperation of major telecommunications companies, has abused that authority and undermined the Constitution by intercepting the communications of innocent Americans without their knowledge or the required court orders.
That is why last year I opposed the so-called Protect America Act, which expanded the surveillance powers of the government without sufficient independent oversight to protect the privacy and civil liberties of innocent Americans. I have also opposed the granting of retroactive immunity to those who were allegedly complicit in acts of illegal spying in the past.
After months of negotiation, the House passed a compromise that, while far from perfect, is a marked improvement over last year’s Protect America Act. Under this compromise legislation, an important tool in the fight against terrorism will continue, but the President’s illegal program of warrantless surveillance will be over. It restores FISA and existing criminal wiretap statutes as the exclusive means to conduct surveillance – making it clear that the President cannot circumvent the law and disregard the civil liberties of the American people. It also firmly re-establishes basic judicial oversight over all domestic surveillance in the future.
It does, however, grant retroactive immunity, and I voted in the Senate three times to remove this provision so that we could seek full accountability for past offenses. Unfortunately, these attempts were unsuccessful. But this compromise guarantees a thorough review by the Inspectors General of our national security agencies to determine what took place in the past, and ensures that there will be accountability going forward. By demanding oversight and accountability, a grassroots movement of Americans has helped yield a bill that is far better than the Protect America Act.
It is not all that I would want. But given the legitimate threats we face, providing effective intelligence collection tools with appropriate safeguards is too important to delay. So I support the compromise, but do so with a firm pledge that as President, I will carefully monitor the program, review the report by the Inspectors General, and work with the Congress to take any additional steps I deem necessary to protect the lives – and the liberty – of the American people.

What double talk?
So, it appears we disagree, at least to the extent that had Obama not wanted the House to pass H.R. 6304, it would not have happened. IMHO, a very reasonable place to differ.

Citizen wigwam:
“That man has some fences to mend.”
Yes indeed, Citizen wigwam, he does indeed have some penance ta do but in the meantime we hafta keep the heat on before the convention and through it, in the streets if necessary, to make sure he knows that we know he can’t win without us. This is one radical, dirty old hippie that will NOT vote for ‘im unless he makes some overtures in our direction before November. And as for control of the Democratic Party, you are absolutely correct that FISA would not have made it through the Senate and the “compromise” the Stenny Hoyer suppository in the House would never have seen the light if Obama had said the word.
I am very concerned about Obama’s tackin’ ta the right on a couple of issues like FISA and the “faith based initiatives” in order to claim a few wingnut evangelicals while pissin’ on 60% of the votin’ public who oppose both. I think he’s in danger of losin’ the money machine he created that enabled ‘im ta opt out of public financing…I’m really interested in seein’ the June numbers for fund raisin’.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, THERE IS NO COMPROMISING WITH FASCISM OR FASCISTS!!
For those following the parlous financial situation, there’s a must-read from Nouriel Roubini on Fannie and Freddie. Yves Smith has excerpted extensively, which might be easier for most to access.
“ve got to run in a moment, but note that NR calls for nationalizing F&F as part of restructuring their debt. He notes (is one of too few) that the amount of their problem debt is probably being greatly exaggerated, as they had better standards throughout the mortgage bubble, so by a lot of comparisons their losses should be manageable, while they still perform a vital service in support of homebuying that the economy has no other answer for at the moment.

Good morning, pups. It’s Collins, Blow and Herbert today. Since absolutely nothing else is happening in the country La Collins uses her column to tell us of “A Virginal Goth Girl,” and how a series of novels starring a hunky vampire boyfriend reveals a rift between the sexes. Really. She’s reading vampire bodice-rippers… Mr. Blow writes about “Talking Down and Stepping Up,” and he says if Barack Obama’s message of stepping up is “talking down,” then so be it. Mr. Herbert’s column is titled “Feeling No Pain,” and he states that neither party in this presidential campaign has been forthright with the public about the true extent of the crises facing the country.

Just took a quick peek at your wiki linky; gotta get cleaned up and take a day off from some yard work but that one bears some in-depth reading later today. *g* Thanks!
For those wishing to read a little this AM
Marion, Although today is suppose to be dry, we have had heavy rain showers several days in a row. The trees must be so happy. Lake Lanier was at it’s lowest level ever just two weeks ago.
as Christy said while not wanting to speak ill of the dead (Jesse Helms last week)
Bless his heart.
Wow selise that is quite some research you have done. Thanks. It is hard to believe that there are so many bad actors in the drama. bushco does seem to be able to bring out the absolute worst in people.
that diary was also recommended by the rescue rangers so it should get some more traffic from that.
Good one selise!
Now off to paint the deck before the sun starts hitting it.
Have fun before the sun hits
Here’s the link to selise’s most excellent diary, part the first
Not sure if it’s an old Southernism, but there’s also the “if ya cain’t say anything good, don’t say nuthin’.”
Therefore, “nuthin’”.
In Ireland. If you would say it to his face you can say it at the grave.
There’s also Alice Roosevelt Longworth, who said “If you don’t have anything nice to say, come sit by me.” Come on over and set a spell…
Although I totally agree, we should all remember to get a colonoscopy. If there is a family history, that means at 40. Unfortunately, we live in a country where health care is unaffordable to many and that needs to change.
That’d be an interesting research project…….what do various cultures/countries deem acceptable to say under similar circumstances?
Headin’ out for a “play day”; hate to miss PUAC……y’all have fun.
and Snow’s mother died quite young of colon cancer, I certainly hope he wasn’t cavalier about screening because he did know he was at increased risk for the disease.
speaking of Pulling Up A Chair…
